Its very important that we do a good job collectively and that means being open about the specific problems we are facing and the solutions we are pursuing.
Green computing is an opportunity for all of us to clearly demonstrate IT's value in helping our companies tackle an urgent and global issue – Carbon Emissions.
Figures say that, IT equipment currently accounts for three to four per cent of the world's carbon emissions. And It is also estimated that, the average server, has roughly the same annual carbon footprint as an SUV doing 15 miles to the gallon Using Winds SFA, customers can consolidate all the sales and marketing digitalization from many physical machines onto a single server and reduce power consumption and cost by 80-90 percent. By consolidating servers and maximizing CPU processing power on other servers, you are cutting costs (saving money) and taking less of a toll on our environment.
Every little step you take makes a difference

- Purchase equipment with the most capabilities
possible. Buying an MFP (Multi-Function Peripheral, ) instead of a fax
machine, printer, and copier could translate into a 50 percent
reduction in energy usage.
- All machines should be energy star certified. Make
sure that "energy star" features " such as automatic sleep mode for PCs
-- aren't disabled on devices already in the office. Those features
have the potential to cut energy costs by a third.
- Make doublesided printing the default position on
the copier to save paper usage. Similarly, use the scan to email
feature rather than printing and mailing a document. Automate as many
processes as possible to cut down on paper use.
- Use recyclable print cartridges that can be returned
and re-manufactured. There are also solid ink options that result in 90
percent less waste than cartridges.
- Enroll in a paper recycling program and separate
high quality white paper from other types of paper (like newspapers).
The recycler pays more for better quality paper. When purchasing paper,
specify recycled content paper.
